(EN)A canister (30) of pressurized medicament is removed from a metered dose inhaler (10) actuation assembly (20) and thereafter subjected to a cleaning firing to dislodge any material that can be built up on the interior of the canister's valve stem (40). During the cleaning firing, backpressure in the valve stem is reduced and/or eliminated by routing the resulting flow to atmosphere along an improved flow path. The improved flow path can be such that there are no constrictions less than about 75% of the size of the valve stem's outlet port. Thus, the backpressure experienced by the valve stem is greatly reduced versus that experienced during a normal dosing firing. As a result, the flow rate of medicament through the valve stem during the cleaning firing can be higher than during a normal dosing firing, allowing the built-up material to be dislodged during the cleaning firing.
(FR)L'invention concerne une boîte (30) de médicament sous pression qui est retirée d'un ensemble d'actionnement (20) d'un inhalateur doseur (10) et soumis par la suite à un amorçage de nettoyage pour déloger toute matière qui a pu s'accumulé sur l'intérieur de la tige de valve de la boîte (40). Pendant l'amorçage de nettoyage, la contre-pression dans la tige de valve est réduite et/ou éliminée en acheminant le flux résultant vers l'atmosphère le long d'un passage de fluide amélioré. Le passage de fluide amélioré peut être tel qu'il n'y a pas de contrainte inférieure à environ 75 % de la taille de l'orifice de sortie de la tige de valve. Ainsi, la contre-pression expérimentée par la tige de valve est grandement réduite par rapport à celle expérimentée pendant un amorçage de dosage normal. Par suite, le débit de médicament à travers la tige de valve pendant l'amorçage de nettoyage peut être supérieur à celui pendant un amorçage de dosage normal, permettant à la matière accumulée d'être délogée pendant l'amorçage de nettoyage.
