Abstract:
(EN) A method and an apparatus select an access point (AP) in a wireless LAN to associate or reassociate, based on considerations that take into account the quality-of-service (QoS) status of the stations (STAs) and the potential hidden terminal effect. The method utilizes advertised or requested information obtained from an AP which includes the QoS status in each basic service set (BSS) and estimates the potential hidden terminal (HT) effect based on local channel sensing by the STA. The method selects the AP in a manner that reduces the possibility of collision from equal and higher priority HTs, thus providing greater transmission throughput and improving performance.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil sélectionnant un point d'accès (PA) dans un LAN sans fil pour association ou ré-assocition, en fonction de considérations qui prennent en compte l'état de qualité de service (QoS) des stations (STA) et l'effet d'un terminal caché potentiel. Le procédé utilise des informations annoncées ou demandées obtenues à partir d'un PA qui inclut l'état QoS dans chaque ensemble de services de base (BSS), et estime l'effet d'un terminal caché potentiel (HT) sur la base d'une détection du canal local par les STA. Le procédé sélectionne le PA d'une manière qui réduit la possibilité de collision à partir d'un HT de priorité égale et supérieure, fournissant ainsi un plus grand rendement de transmission et améliorant le fonctionnement.
