Abstract

A lightweight radio/CD player for vehicular application is virtually 'fastenerless' and includes a case and frontal interface formed of polymer based material that is molded to provide details to accept audio devices such as playback mechanisms (if desired) and radio receivers, as well as the circuit boards required for electrical control and display. The case and frontal interface are of composite structure, including an insert molded electrically conductive wire mesh screen that has been pre-formed to contour with the molding operation. The wire mesh provides EMC, RFI, BCI and ESD shielding and grounding of the circuit boards via exposed wire mesh pads and adjacent ground clips. The PCB architecture is bifurcated into a first board carrying common circuit components in a surface mount configuration suitable for high volume production, and a second board carrying application specific circuit components in a wave soldered stick mount configuration. The major components and subassemblies are self-fixturing during the final assembly process, eliminating the need for dedicated tools, fixtures and assembly equipment. The major components and subassemblies self-interconnect by integral guide and connection features effecting 'slide lock' and 'snap lock' self-interconnection. The radio architecture includes improved push buttons employing 4-bar living hinge linkage and front loaded decorative trim buttons.

L'invention concerne un lecteur radio/CD de poids léger pour une application automobile. Ledit lecteur est pratiquement 'sans fixation' et comprend un boîtier et une interface frontale constitués d'un matériau à base de polymère qui est moulé afin de former des détails destinés à recevoir des dispositifs audio tel que des mécanismes de lecture (le cas échéant) et des récepteurs radio, ainsi que des cartes de circuits imprimés requises pour la commande électrique et l'affichage. Le boîtier et l'interface frontale présentent une structure composite, comprenant un treillis métallique électroconducteur moulé par insertion qui a été préformé de manière à épouser la forme par l'opération de moulage. Le treillis métallique assure une protection EMC, RFI, BCI et ESD et la mise à la terre des cartes de circuits imprimés par l'intermédiaire de plages de connexion de treillis métallique et d'attaches de mise à la terre adjacentes. L'architecture PCB est divisée en une première carte portant des éléments de circuits communs dans une configuration de montage en surface appropriée pour la production haut volume, et en une seconde carte portant des éléments de circuits spécifiques d'une application dans une configuration de montage de bâtons soudés à la vague. Les éléments principaux et les sous-ensembles se fixent automatiquement au cours du processus d'assemblage final, supprimant le recours à des outils, à des fixations et à un équipement d'assemblage spécifiques. Les éléments principaux et les sous-ensembles s'interconnectent automatiquement au moyen d'éléments de guidage et connexion solidaires par construction permettant une interconnexion automatique par 'verrouillage à glissière' et 'verrouillage à encliquetage'. L'architecture radio comprend des boutons-poussoirs améliorés utilisant une liaison à charnière active à quatre barres et des boutons montés en façade sur une garniture décorative.
