Abstract

A horn loudspeaker, in particular for reproducing bass sound in public address systems, in which the horn (23) is mounted directly to the driver element (21) without any intervening compression chamber. The back side of the driver element (21) is covered by a back chamber (24) designed with walls of a semi-permeable material. The walls may be perforated or made of a 'leaky,, material such as cell foam with open structure, or a fibrous material. The 'leaky' back chamber will prevent the build up of high pressures in the back chamber at large cone excursions. The horn loudspeaker is suitable for stacking in groups of two or more, so as to produce a sound source scalable for reproducing any frequency range heard by humans in public address systems or hi-fi systems. Due to the back chamber design, the horn loudspeaker, for high frequencies especially in conical horn shaped versions, can be stacked close together. Thus, a sound source including a number of such closely stacked loudspeakers can provide a homogeneous sound field covering a wide area even at high audio frequencies.

L'invention concerne un haut-parleur à pavillon, en particulier un haut-parleur à pavillon permettant de reproduire un son de basse dans des systèmes de sonorisation, dans lequel le pavillon (23) est monté directement sur l'élément de commande (21) sans aucune chambre de compression intermédiaire. Le côté arrière de l'élément de commande (21) est recouvert par une chambre arrière (24) dont les parois sont faites en une matière semi-perméable. Les parois peuvent être perforées ou en matière “perméable”, telle qu'une mousse cellulaire à structure ouverte, ou une matière fibreuse. La chambre arrière “perméable” empêche la formation de hautes pressions dans la chambre arrière à des courses importantes de cône. Le haut-parleur à pavillon est approprié dans un empilement en groupes de deux ou plus pour fournir une source de son adaptable à la reproduction de toutes les plages de fréquence audibles par des humains dans des systèmes de sonorisation ou des systèmes hi-fi. Grâce à chambre arrière, pour des fréquences élevées notamment dans des versions à forme de pavillon conique, les haut-parleurs à pavillon peuvent être empilés près les uns des autres. Ainsi, une source de son comportant un nombre de ces haut-parleurs empilés près les uns des autres peut fournir un champ de son homogène couvrant une surface importante, même à des fréquences audio élevées.
