Abstract

The present invention provides a combustion-based method and apparatus for producing and isolating carbon nanotubes. The nanotubes are formed when hot combustion gases are contacted with a catalytic surface, which is readily separated from the catalyst support and subsequently dissolved. The process is suitable for large-scale manufacture of carbon nanotubes.

La présente invention concerne un procédé et un appareil basés sur la combustion pour fabriquer et isoler des nanotubes de carbone. Les nanotubes sont formés lorsque des gaz de combustion chauds sont mis en contact avec une surface catalytique, laquelle est facilement séparée du support de catalyseur et par la suite dissoute. Le procédé est approprié pour une fabrication à grande échelle des nanotubes de carbone.
