A handheld target marker is provided, wherein the target marker includes a housing retaining a quantum cascade laser, a collimating or focusing lens, a driver and a power supply. The quantum cascade laser produces a thermal infrared beam which can be selectively directed to impinge upon a target. The impinging beam is viewable by a thermal imager. The handheld target marker operates at ambient temperatures and incorporates the driver and power supply necessary for operation of the quantum cascade laser.

L'invention concerne un marqueur de cible de poche, le marqueur de cible comprenant un boîtier retenant un laser à cascade quantique, une lentille de collimation ou de focalisation, un circuit de pilotage et un bloc d'alimentation. Le laser à cascade quantique produit un faisceau infrarouge thermique qui peut être sélectivement dirigé afin de frapper une cible. Le faisceau incident est visualisable par un imageur thermique. Le marqueur de cible de poche fonctionne à des températures ambiantes et comprend le circuit de pilotage et un bloc d'alimentation nécessaires pour le fonctionnement du laser à cascade quantique.
