Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for making butenes using dry isobutanol derived from fermentation broth. The butenes so produced may be converted to isoalkanes, alkyl-substituted aromatics, isooctanes, isooctanols, and octyl ethers, which are useful in transportation fuels.

L'invention porte sur un procédé qui permet de fabriquer des butènes au moyen d'un isobutanol sec dérivé d'un bouillon de fermentation. Les butènes obtenus de la sorte peuvent être transformés en isoalcanes, en aromatiques alkyle-substitués, en isooctanes, en isooctanols et en éthers d'octyle, qui sont utiles dans les carburants de transport.
