Claims

1. Method for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts of a first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) connectable via a mobile network to a further terminal by establishing a call connection for providing a first service or by establishing a call connection for providing a second service,
characterized in that
the method comprises the following steps performed by the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420):
- receiving (S21) a first indication signal (202) indicating that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable from a mobile network node (31, 310) administrating an established call connection for providing the first service, and
- in response to receiving the first indication signal (202) refraining (S 22) from requesting a service change towards the second service until reception of a further indication signal (204) from the mobile network node (31, 310) indicating that a service change is available again.

2. Method according to claim 1, comprising the following steps performed by the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420):
- receiving (S23) a signal indicating that a service change towards the second service is available again as further indication signal (204), and
- after receiving the further indication signal (204) indicating a service change request (205) towards the mobile network node to request a service change towards the second service.

3. Method according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the first signal (202) indicating that a service change is unavailable comprises an unavailability cause indication indicating a cause for the unavailability of the service change.

4. Method according to claim 3, comprising the step of indicating (214) the
unavailability cause towards the user of the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420).

5. Method according to any of the preceding claims, wherein the first service is a speech service and the second service is a video or a multimedia service.

Mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) adapted for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts, the mobile terminal being connectable via a mobile network (31, 310) to a second mobile terminal by means of a call connection for providing a first service or by means of a call connection for providing a second service, characterized by
a receiver unit (421) for receiving first indication signals indicating that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable, a receiver unit (421) for receiving further indication signals indicating that a service change towards the second service is available again and a processing unit (423) for processing an indication signal received as first indication signal (202) and for refraining (S22) in response to said processing said first indication signal (202) from requesting a service change towards the second service until reception of an indication received as further indication signal (204).

7. Mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) according to claim 6, comprising a sending unit (422) for sending service change request signals (205) requesting a service change towards the second service, wherein the processing unit (423) is adapted to process an indication signal received as further indication signal (204) and in response to said processing said further indication signal to initiate (S24) sending a service change request signal (205) by the transmitter unit.

8. Mobile terminal according to claim 6 or 7, wherein the processing unit (423) is adapted to process an unavailability cause indication indicating a cause for the unavailability of the service change, the cause being comprised within the first indication signal (202).

9. Mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) according to claim 8, comprising a user interface wherein the processing unit (423) is adapted to initiate presenting the unavailability cause via the user interface.

10. Mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) according to any of the claims 6 to 9, wherein the first service is a speech service and the second service is a video service or a multimedia service.

11. Method for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts of a first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) connectable via a mobile network node (31, 310) to a second mobile terminal by establishing a call connection for providing a first service or a call connection for providing a second service, wherein the mobile network node

(31, 310) administrates an established call connection of the first mobile terminal (1,

Ia, Ib, 420) for providing the first service,
characterized in that the method comprises the following steps performed by the mobile network node:
- determining (S 11) that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable for the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) and
- sending an indication signal (202) towards the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420), indicating the temporal unavailability of the service change.

12. Method according to claim 11, wherein the determining step (Sl 1) comprises determining that the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) has roamed into a radio network (22) not supporting a call connection providing the second service.

Method according to claim 11 or 12, wherein a bearer type is associated with the second service and wherein the determining step comprises determining that a radio network node handling a radio connection towards the first mobile terminal does not support the bearer type associated with the second service.

Method according to any of the claims 11 to 13, wherein a supplementary service is available for the first service and is not available for the second service and wherein the determining step (Sl 1) comprises determining that the supplementary service has been activated for the call connection providing the first service.

15. Method according to any of the claims 11 to 14, wherein the determining step (S 11) comprises determining a cause for the unavailability of the service change and wherein the sending step comprises including the unavailability cause into the indication signal (202).

Method according to any of the claims 11 to 15, wherein the indication signal (202) is a first indication signal and the determining step (S 11) is a first determining step, and wherein the method comprises a second determining step (S 14) for determining that a service change towards the second service is available again and a sending step for a sending a second indication signal (204) indicating the availability of the service change towards the mobile station (1, Ia, Ib, 420).

17. Mobile network node (31, 310) adapted for reducing the number of unsuccessful service change attempts of a first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) connectable to a second mobile terminal by means of a call connection for providing a first service or a call connection for providing a second service, wherein the mobile network node (31, 310) is capable of administrating the first mobile terminal and an established call connection of the mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) for providing the first service, characterized by:
a service change unavailability determining unit (314) for determining that a service change towards the second service is temporarily unavailable for the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) and a sending unit for sending an indication signal towards the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420), the indication signal (202) indicating the temporal unavailability of the service change.

Mobile network node (31, 310) according to claim 17, comprising a radio network interface (311) for receiving a roaming indication (21) indicating that the first mobile terminal (1, Ia, Ib, 420) has roamed into a radio network (22), wherein the radio network (22) does not support a call connection providing the second service and wherein the service change unavailability determining unit (314) is adapted to determine the unavailability of the service change in response to the processing the received roaming indication (201).

19. Mobile network node (31, 310) according to claim 17 or 18, comprising a radio network interface (311) for receiving a radio network node indication indicating a radio network node (22) handling a radio connection towards the first mobile terminal

(1, Ia, Ib, 420), wherein the radio network node does not support a bearer type associated with the second service and wherein the service change unavailability determining unit (314) is adapted to determine the unavailability of the service change in response to processing the received radio network node indication.

20. Mobile network node (31, 310) according to any of the claims 17 to 19, comprising a supplementary services administration unit (315) for administrating a supplementary service that is available for the first service and unavailable for the second service, for determining whether the supplementary service has been activated for the call connection providing the first service and for indicating the determining result towards the service change unavailability determining unit (314).

Mobile network node (31, 310) according to any of the claims 17 to 20, wherein the service change unavailability determining unit (314) is adapted to determine a cause for the unavailability of the service change and the sending unit (312) is adapted to include the unavailability cause into the indication signal (202).

Mobile network node (31, 310) according to any of the claims 17 to 21, wherein the indication signal is a first indication signal (202) and the determining step (S 12) is a first determining step, and wherein the service change unavailability determining unit (314) is adapted to determine that a service change towards the second service is available again and the sending unit (312) is adapted to send a second indication signal (204) indicating the availability of the service change towards the mobile station (1, Ia, Ib, 420).
