A drop on demand ink jet print head has a chamber (18) with a plurality of liquid passages (36, 38, 42, 44) into and out of said chamber(18), such that liquid is continuously moved into the chamber (18) to a stagnation point adjacent to the nozzle opening (24), whereat the fluid comes substantially to rest, and out of the chamber (18) from the stagnation point such that vector sum of liquid flow derived forces within the liquid channels is neutral. An actuator (32) associated with the chamber (18) is adapted to selectively increase the pressure of the liquid at the stagnation point to thereby eject a liquid drop from the nozzle opening (24). Continuous fluid flow internal to the system decreases the time to refill the fire chamber directly behind the nozzle opening after droplet ejection. This in turn dramatically increases the response time of the system.

Tête d'impression à jet d'encre contrôlé, comprenant une chambre présentant une pluralité de passages de liquide dans et hors de ladite chambre, de telle sorte qu'un liquide circule en permanence dans la chambre jusqu'à un point de stagnation situé à proximité de l'ouverture de buse, point au niveau duquel le fluide adopte sensiblement une condition de repos, et hors de la chambre à partir du point de stagnation de telle sorte que la somme vectorielle des forces dérivées de l'écoulement de liquide à l'intérieur des canaux de liquide soit neutre. Un actionneur associé à la chambre est conçu pour augmenter de façon sélective la pression du liquide au point de stagnation pour éjecter ainsi une goutte de liquide hors de l'ouverture de buse. Un écoulement de fluide continu à l'intérieur du système diminue le temps de remplissage de la chambre d'éjection située directement derrière l'ouverture de buse après l'éjection de la gouttelette. Ceci améliore à son tour considérablement le temps de réponse du système.
