Abstract

Provided is a nucleic acid molecule comprising the sequence is set forth in SEQ ID NO:1, the corresponding protein sequence as set forth in SEQ ID NO:2, and variants and functional fragments thereof. Corresponding chimeric genes, vectors and microorganisms are also provided. The protein has a role in the degradation of long-chain n-alkanes and can be used to modify the properties of long-chain n- alkane containing substrates. Methods of using the protein of the invention, e.g. to cause degradation of long-chain n-alkanes are also provided, as are methods of identifying enzymes that are required for the metabolism of a substrate.

L'invention concerne une molécule d'acide nucléique comprenant la séquence telle qu'indiquée dans la SEQ ID n° : 1; la séquence de protéine correspondante telle qu'indiquée dans la SEQ ID n° : 2; et des variantes et fragments fonctionnels de celles-ci. L'invention concerne également des gènes chimères, vecteurs et microorganismes correspondants. La protéine joue un rôle dans la décomposition de n-alcanes à longue chaîne et peut être utilisée pour modifier les propriétés de substrats contenant des n-alcanes à longue chaîne. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'utilisation de la protéine de l'invention, par exemple pour provoquer la décomposition de n-alcanes à longue chaîne, ainsi que des procédés d'identification d'enzymes qui sont requises pour le métabolisme d'un substrat.
