A method and a system for confirming an event using a short-range wireless communications network are disclosed. The mechanism includes various steps including monitoring the event, verifying the event, and performing a function when the event is verified. In one embodiment, a series of events are initially entered in a scheduling database such as a calendar software. Once the events are stored in the scheduling database, the mechanism monitors the events in accordance with a predefined sequence. In one aspect, the events may be ordered in a chronological order. If an occurrence of the event according to a predefined sequence is detected, the mechanism obtains ambient information using its short-range wireless capability to verify the actual occurrence of the event. Upon verifying the occurrence of the event, the mechanism performs a function, which can be a predetermined function or a real-time instructed function.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un système pour confirmer un événement à l'aide d'un réseau de communication sans fil de courte portée. Le mécanisme comprend diverses étapes incluant la surveillance de l'événement, la vérification de l'événement et la mise en oeuvre d'une fonction lorsque l'événement est vérifié. Dans un mode de réalisation, une série d'événements est entrée initialement dans une base de données de programmation telle qu'un logiciel calendaire. Une fois les événements stockés dans la base de données de programmation, le mécanisme surveille les événements selon une séquence prédéfinie. Selon un aspect, les événements peuvent être classés dans un ordre chronologique. Si une instance de l'événement selon une séquence prédéfinie est détectée, le mécanisme obtient des informations ambiantes à l'aide de son dispositif sans fil de courte portée qui lui permet de vérifier la survenance réelle de l'événement. Après vérification de la survenance de l'événement, le mécanisme met en oeuvre une fonction, qui peut être une fonction prédéterminée ou une fonction commandée en temps réel.
