This invention relates to a method for making shaped bodies having a silica content of at least 85 wt%, to shaped bodies made by such method, to catalyst compositions comprising shaped bodies made by such methods and to catalytic conversion processes using catalyst compositions comprising shaped bodies made by such methods. The method of making the shaped bodies comprises the steps of a) forming shaped bodies from a mixture obtained from at least one amorphous silica powder, at least one silica sol having a pH below 7, and at least one polymeric organic extrusion aid, optionally supplemental liquid medium and optionally crystallites of a zeolite or zeolite-type material; b) drying the shaped bodies obtained in step a); and c) heating the shaped bodies to a temperature ranging from about 500 oC to about 800 oC.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication de corps en forme possédant un contenu de silice d'au moins 85 % en poids, des corps en forme fabriqués par ces procédés et des processus de conversion catalytique au moyen de compositions de catalyseur comprenant des corps en forme fabriqués par ces procédés. Le procédé de fabrication des corps en forme consiste: (a) à former des corps en forme à partie d'un mélange obtenu d'au moins une poudre de silice amorphe, d'au moins un sol de silice dont le pH est inférieur à 7 et d'au moins un agent auxiliaire d'extrusion organique polymère, éventuellement d'un milieu liquide complémentaire et éventuellement de cristallites d'un zéolite ou d'un matériau de type zéolite, (b) à sécher les corps en forme obtenus à l'étape (a) et, (c) à chauffer les corps en forme à une température comprise entre environ 5000C et environ 8000C.
