The fuel injection amounts into each cylinder are set on the assumption that a heavy fuel will be injected during the engine starting process, and a specific torque is allowed to be generated by combustion in a specific cylinder when a fuel with a specific property between those of the heaviest fuel and the lightest fuel is injected thereinto. When the torque generated in the specific cylinder is in a range at or around the specific torque, the property level of fuel to be injected during the engine starting process is determined to be in a level range at or around the specific property (step 110). When the torque generated in the specific cylinder is higher than the range around the specific torque, the property level is determined to be in a level range on the light fuel side of the level range around the specific property (step 112).

Les quantités d'injection de combustible dans chaque cylindre sont déterminées en se basant sur l'hypothèse qu'un combustible lourd sera injecté pendant la procédure de démarrage du moteur, et qu'un couple spécifique peut être généré par combustion dans un cylindre spécifique lorsqu'un combustible présentant une propriété spécifique parmi les propriétés qui caractérisent le combustible le plus lourd et le combustible le plus léger est injecté dans celui-ci. Lorsque le couple généré dans le cylindre spécifique se situe dans une gamme du couple spécifique ou dans les environs de celui-ci, le niveau de propriété du combustible à injecter pendant la procédure de démarrage du moteur est déterminé comme une gamme de niveau de la propriété spécifique ou aux environs de celle-ci (étape 110). Lorsque le couple généré dans le cylindre spécifique est supérieur à la gamme située aux environs du couple spécifique, le niveau de propriété est déterminé comme se situant dans une gamme de niveau correspondant au côté du combustible léger de la gamme de niveau située dans les environs de la propriété spécifique (étape 112).
