Abstract

The invention discloses a paper or paperboard produced from a slurry comprising cellulose fibers and an effective amount of SMS. In addition, a method for increasing retention and dewatering during the papermaking process is also disclosed. The method involves the addition of an effective amount of SMS to said papermaking process. The invention also discloses a method for increasing retention and drainage in a papermaking process comprising the steps of: adding both an effective amount of starch and an effective amount of SMS to a slurry of said papermaking process, wherein said starch is selected from the group consisting of: tapioca starch; potato starch; corn starch; waxy maize starch; rice starch; and wheat starch. Moreover, the invention comprises a method for increasing retention and drainage in a papermaking process comprising the steps of: adding both an effective amount of modified starch and an effective amount of SMS to a slurry of said papermaking process.

L'invention concerne un papier ou un carton produit à partir d'une suspension épaisse comprenant des fibres de cellulose et une quantité efficace de silicates de métaux synthétiques (SMS). En plus, l'invention concerne également un procédé servant à accroître la rétention et l'épaississement au cours du procédé de fabrication de papier. Le procédé consiste à ajouter une quantité efficace de SMS au dit procédé de fabrication de papier. L'invention concerne également un procédé servant à accroître la rétention et l'égouttage dans un procédé de fabrication de papier, ledit procédé comprenant une étape consistant à ajouter à la fois une quantité efficace d'amidon et une quantité efficace de SMS à une suspension épaisse dudit procédé de fabrication de papier, ledit amidon étant sélectionné dans le groupe constitué de l'amidon de tapioca, de la fécule de pomme de terre, de l'amidon de maïs, de l'amidon de maïs cireux, de l'amidon de riz et de l'amidon de blé. De plus, l'invention concerne un procédé servant à accroître la rétention et l'égouttage dans un procédé de fabrication de papier, ledit procédé comprenant une étape consistant à ajouter à la fois une quantité efficace d'amidon modifié et une quantité efficace de SMS à une suspension épaisse dudit procédé de fabrication de papier.
