Abstract

A multi-core optical fiber pressure sensor is described, which sensor includes an optical fiber having at least two cores, wherein the cores have collocated measurement portions, for example in-fiber interferometers or Bragg Grating portions. In an exemplary embodiment, the fiber is arranged such that a pressure induced force will act on the multi-core fiber at said collocated position, affecting the light guiding cores in a different manner. In another exemplary embodiment, the optical fiber is configured to bend in response to pressure changes.

La présente invention concerne un capteur de pression à fibre optique à âmes multiples, qui comprend une fibre optique possédant au moins deux âmes, lesdites âmes ayant des parties de mesure copositionnées, par exemple des parties interféromètres dans la fibre ou réseaux de Bragg. Dans un mode de réalisation exemplaire, la fibre est disposée de manière qu'une force induite par la pression agisse sur la fibre à âmes multiples au niveau de ladite position copositionnée, ce qui influence différemment les âmes guidant la lumière. Dans un autre mode de réalisation exemplaire, la fibre optique est conçue pour se courber en réponse à des modifications de pression.
