Disclosed is a method for producing a curing agent having an acidic substituent and an unsaturated maleimide group, wherein a maleimide compound (a) having at least two N-substituted maleimide groups in a molecule and an amine compound (b) having an acidic substituent represented by the general formula (I) below are reacted in an organic solvent. Also disclosed is a thermosetting resin composition containing a curing agent (A) obtained by the above-described method, and a compound (B) which is cured with the curing agent. A cured product of such a thermosetting resin composition has a glass transition temperature of not less than 200˚C. Further disclosed are a prepreg using such a thermosetting resin composition, and a laminate. The curing agent produced by this method enables to obtain a thermosetting resin composition having good solubility in an organic solvent, while being excellent in adhesion to metal foils, heat resistance, moisture resistance, flame retardance, copper cladding heat resistance, low dielectric characteristics and low dielectric loss tangent property. Consequently, the curing agent enables to obtain a prepreg or a laminate having excellent properties useful for printed wiring boards for electronic devices.

L'invention concerne un procédé servant à produire un durcisseur ayant un substituant acide et un groupe maléimide insaturé, consistant à faire réagir un composé maléimide (a) ayant au moins deux groupes maléimides substitués en N dans une molécule et un composé amine (b) ayant un substituant acide représenté par la formule générale (I) ci-dessous dans un solvant organique. L'invention concerne également une composition de résine thermodurcissable contenant un durcisseur (A) obtenu par le procédé décrit ci-dessus et un composé (B) qui est durci avec le durcisseur. Un produit durci d'une telle composition de résine thermodurcissable a une température de transition vitreuse supérieure ou égale à 200°C. L'invention concerne en outre un préimprégné utilisant une telle composition de résine thermodurcissable et un stratifié. Le durcisseur produit en utilisant ce procédé permet d'obtenir une composition de résine thermodurcissable ayant une bonne solubilité dans un solvant organique, tout en étant excellente en termes d'adhérence à des feuilles de métal, de résistance à la chaleur, de résistance à l'humidité, de caractère ignifuge, de résistance à la chaleur d'un stratifié avec du cuivre, de caractéristiques de faible constante diélectrique et de propriété de faible tangente de perte diélectrique. En conséquence, le durcisseur permet d'obtenir un préimprégné ou un stratifié ayant d'excellentes propriétés utile pour imprimer des cartes de câblage pour des dispositifs électroniques.
