A display element that realizes a high reflectance in white display, a high display speed and a suppressed display unevenness. Accordingly, there is provided a display element having electrodes opposite to each other and, interposed therebetween, an electrolyte layer containing silver or a compound containing silver in its chemical structure and a porous white scattering layer, the opposite electrodes driven so as to induce silver dissolution and precipitation, characterized in that the porous white scattering layer consists of at least two sublayers wherein when the porous white scattering sublayer adjacent to electrode is referred to as the first sublayer while the porous white scattering sublayer positioned on a side remoter than the first sublayer as viewed from the electrode is referred to as the second sublayer, the average particle diameter of main-component particles constituting the first sublayer is greater than that of main-component particles constituting the second sublayer.

La présente invention concerne un élément d'affichage qui permet d'obtenir un facteur de réflexion élevé dans l'affichage des blancs, une vitesse d'affichage élevée et une irrégularité d'affichage supprimée. De ce fait, elle concerne un élément d'affichage comportant des électrodes situées l'une en face de l'autre et, intercalée entre celles-ci, une couche d'électrolyte contenant de l'argent ou un composé contenant de l'argent dans sa structure chimique et une couche de diffusion de blanc poreuse, les électrodes opposées étant commandées de manière à induire la dissolution et la précipitation de l'argent, qui se caractérise en ce que la couche de diffusion de blanc poreuse consiste en au moins deux sous-couches, la sous-couche de diffusion de blanc poreuse adjacente à l'électrode étant désignée en tant que première sous-couche tandis que la sous-couche de diffusion de blanc poreuse positionnée sur un côté plus éloigné que la première couche, comme ce qui peut être observé depuis l'électrode, est désignée en tant que seconde sous-couche, le diamètre particulaire moyen de particules d'un composant principal constituant la première sous-couche étant supérieur à celui de particules d'un composant principal constituant la seconde sous-couche.

 白表示の反射率が高く、表示速度が速く、かつ表示ムラが少ない表示素子は、対向電極間に、銀または銀を化学構造中に含む化合物を含有する電解質層、及び多孔質白色散乱層を含有し、銀の溶解析出を生じさせるように該対向電極の駆動操作を行う表示素子において、該多孔質白色散乱層が少なくとも2層から構成され、電極に隣接した多孔質白色散乱層を第1層とし、電極から見て該第1層よりも遠い側に位置する多孔質白色散乱層を第2層としたときに、該第1層を形成する主成分粒子の平均粒径が、第2層を形成する主成分粒子の平均粒径よりも大きいことを特徴とする表示素子によって得られる。
