A method of manufacturing an optical film has a rubbing step for rubbing the surface of a long plastic film (F) by a rubbing roll (4) around which a napped fabric is wound, an application step for applying liquid crystalline molecules to the surface of the film having passed the rubbing step, and a fixation step for fixing the applied liquid crystalline molecules. The rubbing step has a backup roll mechanism (5) for supporting and conveying the film by the use of a conveyor belt (3) that has a metal surface and supporting the lower surface of the conveyor belt. The backup roll mechanism has backup rolls (51) individually rotated in the moving direction of the conveyor belt. The backup rolls are disposed immediately beneath the rubbing roll, along a straight line substantially in parallel with the rotating axis of the rubbing roll.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'un film optique qui comporte une étape de frottement pour frotter la surface d'un long film de plastique (F) par un rouleau de frottement (4) autour duquel une étoffe grattée est enroulée, une étape d'application pour appliquer des molécules cristallines liquides sur la surface du film ayant franchi l'étape de frottement, et une étape de fixation pour fixer les molécules cristallines liquides appliquées. L'étape de frottement comporte un mécanisme à cylindres d'appui (5) pour soutenir et transporter le film par l'utilisation d'une bande transporteuse (3) qui comporte une surface en métal et soutenir la surface inférieure de la bande transporteuse. Le mécanisme à cylindres d'appui comporte des cylindres d'appui (51) pivotés dans la direction de déplacement de la bande transporteuse. Les cylindres d'appui sont disposés juste en dessous du rouleau de frottement, le long d'une ligne droite pratiquement en parallèle à l'axe de rotation du rouleau de frottement.

長尺のプラスチックフィルムFの表面を起毛布を巻回したラビングロール4によって擦るラビング処理工程と、ラビング処理工程を経たフィルムの表面に液晶性分子を塗布する塗布工程と、塗布した液晶性分子を固定する固定工程とを含む光学フィルムの製造方法であって、ラビング処理工程において、金属表面を有する搬送ベルト3によってフィルムを支持して搬送すると共に、搬送ベルトの下面を支持するバックアップロール機構5を配設する。バックアップロール機構は、搬送ベルトの搬送方向に沿ってそれぞれ回転する複数のバックアップロール51を備え、各バックアップロールは、ラビングロールの直下であって、ラビングロールの回転軸と略平行な直線に沿って配設されている。
