A method for establishing a pseudo-wire connection between first and second switches in a packet switched network, the method comprising: sending a label mapping message to the second switch requesting that the pseudo-wire connection be established with the first switch; reserving resources for the pseudo-wire connection at the first switch; receiving a label withdraw message from the second switch if the second switch has insufficient resources for the pseudo-wire connection and, in response to the label withdraw message, releasing the resources for the pseudo- wire connection at the first switch; and, activating the pseudo-wire connection if the second switch has sufficient resources for the pseudo-wire connection, thereby optimizing resources for establishing pseudo-wire connections of each of the first and second switches.

La présente invention concerne un procédé d'établissement d'une connexion de pseudo-câble entre des premier et second commutateurs dans un réseau à commutation de paquets, le procédé comprenant les étapes consistant à : envoyer un message de mise en correspondance d'étiquettes au second commutateur demandant que la connexion du pseudo-câble soit établie avec le premier commutateur ; réserver des ressources pour la connexion du pseudo-câble au niveau du premier commutateur ; recevoir un message de retrait d'étiquettes provenant du second commutateur si le second commutateur a des ressources insuffisantes pour la connexion du pseudo-câble et, en réponse au message de retrait d'étiquettes, libérer les ressources pour la connexion du pseudo-câble au niveau du premier commutateur ; et activer la connexion du pseudo-câble si le second commutateur a des ressources suffisantes pour la connexion du pseudo-câble, optimisant ainsi les ressources permettant d'établir les connexions de pseudo-câble de chacun des premier et second commutateurs.
