Abstract

While attaining a satisfactory PM combustion efficiency, it is intended to enhance the capability of CO and HC oxidation purification. Accordingly, there is provided an exhaust gas purification catalyst comprising filter substrate (1) furnished thereinside with upstream and downstream cells (13a,13b) divided by porous diaphragm (11) wherein each of the upstream cells (13a) opens on the upstream side of the filter substrate (1) and is sealed on the downstream side of the filter substrate (1) and wherein each of the downstream cells (13b) is sealed by plugging on the upstream side and opens on the downstream side, and comprising a noble metal supported on the filter substrate (1) and an alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal supported on the filter substrate (1). In the upstream side zone (1a) of the filter substrate (1), the amount of alkali metal and/or alkaline earth metal supported per volume of the filter substrate (1) is greater than in the downstream side zone (1b) of the filter substrate (1).

Tout en assurant une efficacité de combustion PM satisfaisante, l'invention entend renforcer la capacité d'épuration par oxydation CO et HC. En conséquence, l'invention concerne un pot catalytique d'épuration des gaz d'échappement comprenant un substrat de filtre (1) disposé à l'intérieur de celui-ci avec des cellules en amont et en aval (13a,13b) divisées par une membrane poreuse (11), caractérisé en ce que chacune des cellules en amont (13a) s'ouvre sur le côté amont du substrat de filtre (1) et est hermétique sur le côté aval du substrat de filtre (1), et caractérisé en ce que chacune des cellules en aval (13b) est scellée par bouchage sur le côté amont et s'ouvre sur le côté aval, et contenant un métal noble supporté sur le substrat de filtre (1) et un métal alcalin et/ou un métal alcalino-terreux supporté sur le substrat de filtre (1). Dans la zone côté amont (1a) du substrat de filtre (1), la quantité de métal alcalin et/ou de métal alcalino-terreux supporté par volume du substrat de filtre (1) est supérieure à celle dans la zone côté aval (1b) du substrat de filtre (1).
