Provided is a wide-band VHF-pulse light oscillator comprising a light-amplification medium (1) for optically amplifying an incident light having a wide band or a plurality of bands, to perform a light energy conversion into an oscillating light to oscillate from an optical resonator, an energy injection element (2) either for injecting an energy into the light-amplification medium to generate a light energy or for injecting the light energy into the light-amplification medium, a negative dispersion element (4) for applying a negative dispersion to a pulse light or an oscillating light, a mode locker (9) for applying a mode synchronizing action to the pulse light, a positive dispersion element (11) for applying a positive dispersion to the pulse light, and an optical system having a looped optical path formed therein to return from the light-amplification medium through the negative dispersion element, the mode locker and the positive dispersion element to the light-amplification medium, so that the pulse light may circulate in at least one of forward and backward directions. As a result, the VHF-pulse light can be generated over a wide band and in a high efficiency.

L'invention concerne un oscillateur large bande à lumière pulsée VHF, comprenant un milieu d'amplification de lumière (1) destiné à amplifier optiquement une lumière incidente possédant une large bande ou une pluralité de bandes dans le but de convertir l'énergie lumineuse en une lumière oscillante à partir d'un résonateur optique ; un élément d'injection d'énergie (2) destiné soit à injecter de l'énergie dans le milieu d'amplification de lumière pour générer de l'énergie lumineuse, soit à injecter l'énergie lumineuse dans le milieu d'amplification de lumière ; un élément à dispersion négative (4) destiné à appliquer une dispersion négative à une lumière pulsée ou une lumière oscillante ; un élément de synchronisation de modes (9) destiné à assurer la synchronisation des modes de la lumière pulsée ; un élément à dispersion positive (11) destiné à appliquer une dispersion positive à la lumière pulsée ; et un système optique contenant un trajet optique en boucle partant du milieu d'amplification de lumière et passant par l'élément à dispersion négative, l'élément de synchronisation de modes et l'élément à dispersion positive avant de retourner au milieu d'amplification de lumière, de façon à faire circuler la lumière pulsée dans un sens direct et/ou inverse. L'invention permet ainsi de générer de façon très efficace une lumière pulsée VHF sur une large bande.
