The present invention relates generally to the field of plant molecular biology and agents useful in the manipulation of plant physiological or biochemical properties. More particularly, the present invention provides genetic and proteinaceous agents capable of modulating or altering the level of acidity or alkalinity in a cell, group of cells, organelle, part or reproductive portion of a plant. Genetically altered plants, plant parts, progeny, subsequent generations and reproductive material including flowers or flowering parts having cells exhibiting an altered cellular pH compared to a non-genetically altered plant are also provided.

La présente invention concerne d'une manière générale le domaine de la biologie moléculaire végétale et des agents qui s'avèrent utiles dans la manipulation des propriétés physiologiques ou biochimiques de plantes. Plus particulièrement, la présente invention concerne des agents génétiques et protéiques capables de moduler ou de modifier le niveau d'acidité ou d'alcalinité dans une cellule, un groupe de cellules, un organite, une partie ou les organes reproducteurs d'une plante. La présente invention concerne également des plantes, des parties de plantes, la progéniture, les générations ultérieures et le matériel reproducteur incluant les fleurs ou des parties florales, l'ensemble étant génétiquement modifié, qui présentent des cellules dont le pH cellulaire est modifié par comparaison avec une plante non génétiquement modifiée.
