Abstract

A system is described where a routing server is configured to receive data packets from one or more servers on a computer network. Data packets may contain system event data that represent, for example, security events or system status. Each data packet is opened at the routing server and may be forwarded to one or more destination hosts depending on the contents of the data packet. Routing server compiles statistics on the source and destination of the data packets and periodically or in response to a command, writes the compiled statistics to a file.

L'invention concerne un système dans lequel un serveur de routage est configuré de façon à recevoir des paquets de données qui proviennent d'un ou de plusieurs serveurs appartenant à un réseau informatique. Ces paquets de données peuvent renfermer des données d'événements système qui représentent, par exemple, des événements touchant à la sécurité ou bien à l'état du système. C'est au niveau du serveur de routage que chaque paquet de données est ouvert, celui-ci étant alors acheminé à un ou à plusieurs hôtes de destination en fonction du contenu du paquet de données en question. Le serveur de routage se charge de compiler des statistiques au sujet de l'origine et de la destination des paquets de données, et d'écrire cette compilation de statistiques dans un fichier, soit à intervalles réguliers, soit en réaction à une instruction.
