A transmitting apparatus (14), to which an input video signal (VS_IN) and an input audio signal (AS_IN) are inputted from an MPEG decoder (17), includes a dummy signal generating circuit (11) and a selecting circuit (12). The dummy signal generating circuit (11) generates a dummy video signal (VS_D) having a higher resolution than the input video signal (VS_IN). The selecting circuit (12) outputs, in accordance with a control signal (CS) inputted based on the information amount of the input audio signal (AS_IN), either one of the input video signal (VS_IN) and dummy video signal (VS_D) to a video/audio transmitting circuit (13) as a selected video signal (VS). The video/audio transmitting circuit (13) multiplexes the input audio signal (AS_IN) with the selected video signal (VS) to generate and transmit a video/audio signal (VAS). Thus, audio signals of high sample rate or of multi-channel are multiplexed with video signals, independently of the format of the video signals, for transmission.

La présente invention concerne un appareil d'émission (14) auquel sont entrés un signal vidéo d'entrée (VS_IN) et un signal audio d'entrée (AS_IN) à partir d'un décodeur MPEG (17), et qui comprend un circuit de génération de signal fictif (11) et un circuit de sélection (12). Le circuit de génération de signal fictif (11) génère un signal vidéo fictif (VS_D) ayant une résolution supérieure à celle du signal vidéo d'entrée (VS_IN). Le circuit de sélection (12) émet, conformément à un signal de contrôle (CS) entré en fonction de la quantité d'information du signal audio d'entrée (AS_IN), un élément parmi le signal vidéo d'entrée (VS_IN) et le signal vidéo fictif (VS_D) en direction d'un circuit d'émission vidéo/audio (13) en tant qu'un signal vidéo sélectionné (VS).
