(EN)Occluded vasculature (284) such as occluded arterial vasculature can be recanalized using a device (10) that is configured to penetrate an occlusion while limiting a distance that said penetration structure can extend in orde to limit inadvertent vascular damage. The device can include an elongate sha (12) of a guidewire and a stylet (32) disposed within a lumen of the elongat shaft (20) such that the stylet is selectively actuatable within the elongat shaft .
