(EN)Process for the manufacture of fluorinated alcohols having the formula CnFmH2n+1-m CH2OH (1) wherein n is (1) or (2); and m is an integer from (1) to (5), but not larger than 2n+l ; by hydrogenating the corresponding fluorinated carboxylic acids and/or their derivates having the formula CnFmH2n+1-mCOR (2) wherein n and m have the above meanings and R represents OH, Cl, Br, F, and OR', wherein R' is a hydrocarbon rest, in the presence of a catalyst and of water but excluding the hydrogenation of trifiuoroacetic acid to form trifiuoroethanol.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'alcools fluorés répondant à la formule CnFmH2n+1-mCH2OH (1), dans laquelle n est égal à 1 ou 2 et m est un entier de 1 à 5 non supérieur à 2n + l. Ledit procédé consiste à hydrogéner les acides carboxyliques fluorés correspondants de formule CnFmH2n+1-mCOR (2) et/ou leurs dérivés, n et m étant tels que définis plus haut et R représentant OH, Cl, Br, F ou OR', R' étant un résidu hydrocarboné, en présence d'un catalyseur et d'eau, mais en excluant l'hydrogénation de l'acide trifluoroacétique pour former le trifluoroéthanol.
