Abstract

Cultured tissue constructs comprising cultured cells and endogenously produced extracellular matrix components without the requirement of exogenous matrix components or network support or scaffold members. Some tissue constructs of the invention are comprised of multiple cell layers or more than one cell type. The tissue constructs of the invention have morphological features and functions similar to tissues their cells are derived and their strength makes them easily handleable. Preferred cultured tissue constructs of the invention are prepared in defined media, that is, without the addition of chemically undefined components. These tissue constructs are used to repair cardiac tissues.

L'invention concerne des constructions de tissu cultivé comprenant des cellules cultivées et des composants de matrice extracellulaires produits de manière endogène sans la nécessité de composants de matrice exogènes ou du soutien d'un réseau ou d'éléments de squelette. Certaines constructions de tissu de l'invention sont composées de couches de cellules multiples ou de plus d'un type de cellule. Les constructions de tissu de l'invention ont des caractéristiques et des fonctions morphologiques identiques à celles des tissus dont leurs cellules sont dérivées et leur résistance les rend faciles à manipuler. Des constructions de tissu cultivé préférées de l'invention sont préparées dans un milieu défini, c'est-à-dire sans l'adjonction de composants chimiquement indéfinis. Ces constructions de tissu sont utilisées pour réparer des tissus cardiaques.
