A liquid crystal display device can display a much whiter color level image when an image to be enhanced in a white color is displayed. A backlight illumination device for illuminating a liquid crystal display panel is comprised of a white light source for emitting white light in addition to a laser light source for emitting red, green and blue light. When an image displayed on the liquid crystal display panel must be enhanced in a white color, a white light source emits the white light to illuminates the liquid crystal display panel in addition to the illumination of the red, green, and blue light emitted from the laser light source. This makes an image, which must be enhanced in the white color, more natural in image quality and can display the same.

L'invention concerne un afficheur à cristaux liquides pouvant afficher une image de couleur plus blanche dans le cas où une image dont la couleur blanche doit être améliorée est affichée. Un dispositif de rétroéclairage destiné à éclairer un écran d'afficheur à cristaux liquides est constitué d'une source de lumière blanche qui émet de la lumière blanche, outre une source lumineuse laser qui émet des lumières rouge, verte et bleue. Lorsqu'une image affichée sur l'écran d'afficheur à cristaux liquides doit être améliorée en lumière blanche, une source de lumière blanche émet la lumière blanche pour éclairer l'écran d'afficheur à cristaux liquides, outre l'éclairage de la lumière rouge, verte et bleue émise par la source de lumière laser. On obtient une image, qui doit être améliorée en couleur blanche, plus naturelle en qualité d'image, et qui peut présenter un affichage identique.

 白色を強調すべき画像を表示するときに、一層白色レベルの良好な画像表示をすることができる液晶表示装置である。液晶表示パネルを照明するバックライト照明装置が赤色光、青色光及び緑色光を発光するレーザ光源に加えて、白色光を発光する白色光源を備えており、液晶表示パネルに表示される画像が白色を強調すべきとされる画像であるときには、レーザ光源からの赤色光、青色光及び緑色光に加えて、白色光源からの白色光を液晶表示パネルに照明する。これにより、白色を強調すべき画像をより自然な画質を有する画像にして表示することができる。
