Low emissivity (low-E) coatings are applied onto surfaces of flare tips to achieve longer flare tip service life, improved flare tip structural integrity and/or a more stable flame pattern under a wide range of operating conditions. In accordance with some embodiments of the present invention, low-E coatings may be applied to the flare tip burner as well as associated internal and/or external component surfaces to reduce direct flame radiation and also conductive heat transfer. The low-E coating material preferably has an emissivity of less than about 0.80, more preferably between about 0.20 to about 0.78. The coating thickness of the low-E material is preferably between about 1 mil to about 25 mils, and more preferably between about 2 mils to about 8 mils. Coating densities of the low- E material in the coating will preferably be at least about 65%, more preferably between about 80% to about 100%.

Selon la présente invention, des revêtements à faible émissivité sont appliqués sur des surfaces de nez de torche en vue de prolonger leur durée de vie, d’améliorer leur intégrité structurelle et/ou d’obtenir un type de flamme plus stable, dans une large gamme de conditions de fonctionnement. Selon certains modes de réalisation de la présente invention, les revêtements à faible émissivité peuvent s’appliquer sur le brûleur du nez de torche ainsi que sur des surfaces de composants internes et/ou externes associés afin de réduire la rayonnement direct de la flamme ainsi que le transfert thermique par conduction. Le matériau de revêtement à faible émissivité présente de préférence une émissivité inférieure à environ 0,80, et plus idéalement comprise entre environ 0,20 et 0,78. L’épaisseur du revêtement du matériau à faible émissivité est comprise de préférence entre environ 1 millimètre et 25 millimètres, et plus idéalement encore entre environ 2 et 8 millimètress. Les densités de revêtement du matériau à faible émissivité présentes dans le revêtement seront de préférence inférieures à environ 65 %, plus idéalement encore comprises entre environ 80 % et 100 %.
