(EN)A system and method employing intraparenchymal pressure-driven delivery of a treatment material into brain tissue at risk for infiltrating tumor cells is provided. The system and method employ bulk flow as a driving force, by creating a positive pressure gradient using a pump. The pump is connected to an infusion catheter placed directly into brain parenchyma to be treated. The positive pressure is transmitted through this delivery system into the interstitial space of the brain parenchyma. Catheter positioning relative to anatomic landmarks and structures in the targeted tissue region plays a key role in optimizing the pressure-driven delivery of treatment material into the interstitial space.
(FR)L’invention concerne un système et une méthode utilisant un moyen d'administration intraparenchymateux, contrôlée par pression, d'un matériel de traitement dans un tissu cérébral présentant un risque de développer des cellules tumorales. Le système et la méthode utilisent un flux de grande capacité comme force motrice, créant un gradient de pression positive au moyen d’une pompe. La pompe est connectée à un cathéter de perfusion placé directement dans un parenchyme du cerveau à traiter. La pression positive est transmise par ce dispositif d'administration dans l'espace interstitiel du parenchyme du cerveau. Le positionnement du cathéter par rapport aux repères et structures anatomiques de la région du tissu visée joue un rôle clé pour optimiser l'administration contrôlée par la pression d’un matériel de traitement dans l'espace interstitiel.
