Abstract

A catheter for use with magnetic resonance imaging including a catheter body, a radio frequency antenna disposed in a distal end of the catheter body, a first ultrasonic transducer disposed in the distal end of the catheter body and being electrically connected to the radio frequency antenna, an acoustic waveguide disposed in the catheter body and extending from the distal end to a proximal end of the catheter body, the acoustic waveguide being acoustically matched to the first ultrasonic transducer. The catheter also has a second ultrasonic transducer disposed in the proximal end of the catheter body.

Cathéter s'utilisant dans le cadre de l'imagerie par résonance magnétique et comprenant les éléments suivants: antenne radiofréquence disposée à une extrémité distale dudit corps de cathéter; premier transducteur ultrasonique disposé sur cette même extrémité distale et connecté électriquement à l'antenne radiofréquence; un guide d'onde acoustique logé dans le corps de cathéter, qui part de l'extrémité distale de ce corps vers son extrémité proximale, et qui est apparié acoustiquement au premier transducteur ultrasonique. Le corps du cathéter renferme également un second transducteur ultrasonique dans son extrémité proximale.
