(EN)A novel Candida albicans nucleotide and polypeptide, CaSRF1, involved in regulating the morphogenetic transformation and virulence in response to engulfment by the immune response cells of its model host is described. The gene is unique in its ability to affect the virulence-associated morphogenesis in vivo but is not required for the morphogenesis in vitro. The putative membrane localization and its effect on cell wall integrity indicates that it is an ideal anti-candida drug target by virtue of its predicted easy accessibility to lead molecules/chemicals and its ability to affect virulence.
(FR)L'invention concerne un nucléotide et un polypeptide de candida albicans, CaSRF1, impliqués dans la régulation de la transformation et de la virulence morphogénétiques en réponse à l'invasion par des cellules de réponse immunitaire de son hôte modèle. Le gène est unique dans son aptitude à affecter la morphogenèse associée à la virulence in vivo, mais n'est pas requis pour la morphogenèse in vitro. La localisation présumée de la membrane et son effet sur l'intégrité de la paroi cellulaire indiquent une cible idéale de médicament anticandida, du fait de son accessibilité aisée prédite pour acheminer des molécules/produits chimiques et de son aptitude à influer sur la virulence.
