(EN)The present invention relates to compositions and methods for culturing stem cells, particularly embryonic stem cells. Specifically, the invention relates to a culture medium that supports proliferation of substantially undifferentiated stem cells, while maintaining potency of the cells. In an embodiment, the culture medium is defined and supports proliferation of substantially undifferentiated embryonic stem cells in essentially serum free and feeder cell free conditions. Compositions for making the medium and methods using the culture medium are also provided.
(FR)La présente invention se rapporte à des compositions et à des procédés de culture de cellules souches, en particulier de cellules souches embryonnaires. L'invention concerne précisément un milieu de culture qui favorise la prolifération de cellules souches sensiblement indifférenciées, tout en maintenant la capacité desdites cellules. Un mode de réalisation consiste à définir le milieu de culture, lequel favorise la prolifération de cellules souches embryonnaires sensiblement indifférenciées dans des conditions essentiellement exemptes de sérum et de cellules nourricières. L'invention a également trait à des compositions permettant de préparer ledit milieu, et à des procédés d'utilisation dudit milieu de culture.
