(EN)The present invention relates to methods and compositions designed for the prevention, reduction, treatment or management of ischemia-reperfusion injury. The methods of the invention comprise the administration of an effective amount of a therapeutic formulation containing one or more active compounds in a formulation which specifically decreases or inhibits the activity of and/or eliminates or diminishes the amount of phagocytic cells including, but not limited to, macrophages and/or monocytes. In preferred embodiments, the active compound is a bisphosphonate. The invention also provides pharmaceutical compositions of therapeutic formulations for administration to subjects currently suffering from, having recently suffered, or at risk of suffering from an ischemia-reperfusion injury.
(FR)L'invention concerne des procédés et des compositions conçus de manière à prévenir, réduire, traiter ou gérer une lésion d'ischémie-reperfusion. Les procédés de l'invention consistent à administrer une quantité efficace d'une formulation thérapeutique contenant un ou plusieurs composés actifs dans une formulation qui réduit ou inhibe de façon spécifique l'activité de cellules phagocytiques et/ou élimine ou diminue la quantité de ces cellules notamment, entre autres, des macrophages et/ou des monocytes. Dans des modes de réalisation préférés, le composé actif consiste en un biphosphonate. L'invention concerne également des compositions pharmaceutiques de formulations thérapeutiques destinées à l'administration à des sujets souffrant actuellement, ayant récemment souffert, ou présentant un risque de souffrir d'une lésion d'ischémie-reperfusion.
