1. (WO2007011608) RESIDENTIAL REVERSE OSMOSIS SYSTEM
Note: Text based on automatic Optical Character Recognition processes. Please use the PDF version for legal matters

What is claimed is:

1. A reverse osmosis (RO) system which is capable of producing a permeate flow rate of at least about 25 GPD when the system is operating under a feed pressure of 30 psi and a temperature of about 12.7 Celsius.

2. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system is mounted in a housing assembly having a size of about 374 cubic inches or less.

3. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system produces a permeate flow rate of between about 25 GPD and about 50 GPD.

4. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system includes an RO membrane and does not include a carbon pre-filter.

5. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system is mounted in a housing assembly having a size of about 500 cubic inches or less.

6. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system is mounted in a housing assembly having a size of about 750 cubic inches or less.

7. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system includes a spiral wound RO membrane element comprising a single-leaf spiral wound membrane element.

8. The RO system of claim 1, wherein the system has a rejection of at least 90%.

9. The RO system of claim 1, wherein there is no carbon filter before a membrane element of the RO system.

10. A system, comprising;

a housing assembly including an inlet to receive feed water;

a sediment pre-filter coupled to the inlet to receive the feed water, the sediment pre-filter having an outlet;

a membrane element to receive the feed water from the outlet of the sediment pre-filter, the membrane element having a permeate output and a concentrate outlet; and

a faucet to receive filtered water from the permeate outlet;

wherein the membrane element is capable of producing a permeate flow rate of at least 25 GPD under feed water pressure of 30 psi.

11. The system of claim 10, wherein the housing assembly includes a size of about 750 cubic inches or less.

12. The system of claim 10, wherein the housing assembly includes a size of about 500 cubic inches or less.

13. The system of claim 10, wherein the housing assembly includes a size of about 380 cubic inches or less.

14. The system of claim 10, wherein there is no carbon filter before the membrane element.

15. A method comprising:

filtering sediment from a feed water source;

sending the filtered feed water through a RO membrane, the RO membrane being capable of delivering at least 25 GPD at 30 psi and 12.7 Celsius; and

means for delivering the permeate to a user.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the feed water is not sent through a carbon filter before going through the RO membrane.
