Abstract:
(EN) Method for densifying porous carbon preforms. The method including: providing an apparatus charged with at least one stack of annular porous carbon-carbon composite preforms, the preforms being separated from one another by spacers emanating from a passive heat distribution element centrally located within a cylindrical space formed by the stack of annular preforms; locating the charged apparatus in a furnace at a temperature of 950-1 1000°C and a pressure of 5-40 torr; and circulating a carbon- containing gas reactant through the apparatus for 150 to 900 hours. Also, an apparatus for practicing this method. The preforms are densified with less physical damage due to the weight of the preforms being treated than are preforms made by otherwise identical processes that do not separate preforms from the preforms immediately above and below them by spacer elements comprising tabs or shelves emanating from a central passive heat distribution structural member.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de densification de préformes de carbone poreux. Ce procédé consiste à prendre un appareil chargé d'au moins une pile de préformes composite carbone-carbone poreux annulaires, ces préformes étant séparées l'une de l'autre par des entretoises provenant d'un élément de distribution de chaleur passif centré dans un espace cylindrique formé par la pile de préformes annulaires; à localiser l'appareil chargé dans un four à une température de 950-1 1000 °C et une pression de 5-40 torr; et à faire circuler un gaz contenant du carbone réactif par l'appareil pendant 150 à 900 heures. L'invention concerne également un appareil de mise en oeuvre de ce procédé. Les préformes sont densifiées avec un dommage physique moins important, en raison du poids des préformes traitées, que les préformes réalisées par des procédés autrement identiques qui ne séparent pas les préformes des préfromes situées immédiatement au-dessus et au-dessous par des entretoises comportant des languettes ou plate-formes émanant de l'élément structurel de distribution de chaleur passif central.
