Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to a process for making a polyethylene multifilament yarn comprising the steps of a) spinning multiple filaments from a solution comprising between 0.5 and 30 mass% of ultra high molecular weight polyethylene in a solvent; b) cooling the filament obtained to form gel filaments; c) removing at least partly the solvent from the gel filaments; d) drawing the filaments in at least one drawing step before, during or after removing the solvent, wherein the solution of step a) further comprises between 0.1 and 7 mass% of a sorbitol derivative and at step d) the filaments are drawn with a draw ratio of more than 15 to a strength of at least 1 GPa. The invention further relates to a high performance polyethylene multifilament yarn having a strength of at least 1 GPa, wherein the yarn comprises between 0.1 and 5 mass% of a sorbitol derivative.
(FR) Cette invention concerne un procédé de fabrication d'une fibre de polyéthylène à plusieurs filaments, qui consiste à: a) filer plusieurs filaments provenant d'une solution comprenant entre 0,5 et 30 % en masse d'un polyéthylène de poids moléculaire très élevé dans un solvant; b) refroidir le filament obtenu pour former des filaments par gel; c) éliminer au moins partiellement le solvant des filaments par gel; d) étirer les filaments dans au moins une étape d'étirage avant, pendant et après élimination du solvant. La solution de l'étape a) comprend 0,1 à 7 % en masse d'un dérivé de sorbitol, et à l'étape d) les filaments sont étirés selon un rapport d'étirage supérieur à 15 pour une solidité d'au moins 1 GPa. L'invention concerne en outre une fibre de polyéthylène à plusieurs filaments très performante présentant une solidité d'au moins 1 Gpa, qui comprend entre 0,1 et 5 % en masse d'un dérivé de sorbitol.
