Abstract:
(EN) A method is provided for tracking a mobile device in a wireless communications system. The method comprises establishing communications between the mobile device and a masquerading base station with the mobile device operating in a first mode, such as UMTS. Since the use of unprotected signalling messages is limited in UMTS, the existence of integrity protection prevents the procedures used for identifying and tracking subscribers in GSM from being implemented identically in UMTS. Thus, the mobile device is urged to operate in a second mode such as GMS, and the mobile device is then tracked in the second mode of operation.
(FR) L'invention concerne un procédé de poursuite d'un dispositif mobile dans un système de communication sans fil. Ce procédé comprend l'établissement de communications entre le dispositif mobile et une station de base de déguisement, le dispositif mobile fonctionnant dans un premier mode, tel que UMTS. L'utilisation de messages de signalisation non protégés étant limitée dans le mode UMTS, l'existence d'une protection d'intégrité empêche les procédures utilisées pour l'identification et la poursuite d'abonnés dans le mode GSM d'être mises en application de manière identique dans le mode UMTS. Ainsi, le dispositif mobile est amené à fonctionner dans un deuxième mode tel que GMS, et le dispositif mobile est alors poursuivi dans le deuxième mode de fonctionnement.
