Abstract:
(EN) A method of operating an internal combustion engine (10) is provided. The method includes injecting a first fuel charge into at least one cylinder (20) of the engine (10). The method further includes determining a value indicative of at least one of a cylinder pressure and a rate of change in cylinder pressure. The method further includes injecting a second fuel charge into the at least one cylinder (20), upon the occurrence of a predetermined contingency, which may be a determined cylinder pressure or rate of change thereof exceeding a predetermined threshold. An internal combustion engine (10) is further provided, including an electronic controller (30) having a control algorithm. The control algorithm includes software for determining a value indicative of at least one of a cylinder pressure and a rate of change in cylinder pressure of at least one cylinder (20) of the engine (10). The control algorithm further includes logic for transitioning a fuel injector (50) of the engine (10) between modes, based upon the occurrence of a predetermined contingency, which may be the determined value.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un procédé de fonctionnement d'un moteur à combustion interne (10) consistant: à injecter un première charge de combustible dans au moins un cylindre (20); puis à déterminer une valeur représentative d'au moins la pression dans le cylindre et le taux de variation de ladite pression; puis à injecter un deuxième charge de combustible dans au moins un cylindre (20) lors de l'apparition d'un événement prédéterminé qui peut être le dépassement d'un seuil de pression ou de taux de variation de pression dans au moins un cylindre. L'invention porte également sur un moteur à combustion interne (10) comportant un contrôleur électronique (30) dont l'algorithme de commande contient: un logiciel déterminant une valeur représentative d'au moins la pression dans un cylindre (20) et le taux de variation de ladite pression, et une logique faisant passer un injecteur de combustible (50) du moteur à combustion interne (10) d'un mode à un autre en fonction de l'apparition d'un événement prédéterminé qui peut être la susdite valeur déterminée.
