Claims

1. An electrical connector comprising
- a casing (4) having mounted therein a first electrical 5 arrangement (34) designed to be coupled with a second electrical arrangement (35) mounted in a complementary mating connector (3) according to a first connection direction (X) ,
- a slider (16) slideably fitted to casing (4) to slide 10. according to a second sliding direction (Y) perpendicular to said first direction (Y) and comprising cam means (82, 83) for cooperating with cam follower means (22, 23) provided at complementary mating connector (3) , such as to close the connection between said electrical connector (2) 15 and said complementary mating connector (3) ,
- a pivotable lever (18) comprising pivoting means (67) to allow said lever (18) to pivot relative to casing (4) and driving means (68) to act on the slider (16) to slide according to second sliding direction (Y) relative to 0 casing (4) on pivoting said lever (18) ,
characterised in that
the slider (16) comprises at least one channel (97) for interacting with driving means (68) in order to displace the slider (16) along second sliding direction (Y) on 5 pivoting said lever (18) relatively to casing (4) .

2. The electrical connector according to claim 1,
characterised in that
the at least one channel (97) is delimited by side walls 0 (107, 108) along connection direction (X) and is adapted to receive driving means (68) ,
wherein, on pivoting said lever (18) relatively to casing

(4) , said driving means (68) cooperating with one of said side walls (107, 108) to displace the slider (16) along 5 second sliding direction (Y) .

3. The electrical connector according to claim 1 or 2 , characterised in that
cam means (82, 83) are formed as guide channels for receiving cam follower means (22, 23) formed as guide tabs, said guide channels having openings (84, 85) on a first edge (79) of slider (16) , which first edge (79) is opposite to said complementary mating connector (3),

4. The electrical connector according to claim 3,
characterised in that
the casing (4) comprises guide slots (24, 25) according to first connection direction (X), which guide slots (24, 25) have openings (86, 87) on a second edge (11) of casing (4) that is opposite to said complementary mating connector (3),
wherein said openings (86, 87) of casing (4) are alignable with openings (84, 85) of guide channels (82, 83) according to the second sliding direction (Y) , such that on pivoting lever (18) relative to casing (4) said guide tabs (22, 23) of complementary mating connector (3) acting as cam followers are pushed along guide slots (24, 25) by said earning guide channels (82, 83) that slide along second sliding direction (Y) .

5. The electrical connector according to claim 4,
characterised by
locking means (91, 92) for locking said slider (16) relative to casing (4) in a position where openings (86, 87) of said casing (4) are aligned with openings (84, 85) of said guide channels (82, 83) on slider (16).

6. The electrical connector according to claim 5,
characterised in that
locking means (91, 92) comprise first apertures (92) on the casing (4) and tabs (91) on slider (16) , said tabs (91) latching into first apertures (92) .

7. The electrical connector according to any of the preceding claims,
characterised in that
a cover (17) is mounted on top of casing (4) .

8. The electrical connector according to claim 7,
characterised in that
said cover (17) comprises pivoting means (56, 57) interacting with pivoting means (67) of lever (18) to allow lever (18) to pivot relative to casing (4) .

9. The electrical connector according to claim 7,
characterised in that
said casing (4) comprises pivoting means (56, 57) interacting with pivoting means (67) of lever (18) to allow lever (18) to pivot relative to casing (4) .

10. The electrical connector according to claim 7 when back-referenced to claim 5,
characterised by
tabs (94) on said cover (17) to release the latching of tabs (91) into first apertures (92) .

11. The electrical connector according to any of the preceding claims,
characterised in that
said slider (16) comprises two lateral walls (74, 75) disposed in parallel and adapted to slide along two side walls (6, 7) of said casing (4) .
