Title (EN) CLAMPING ARRANGEMENT FOR SECURING AN ANNULAR COMPONENT TO A SHAFT
(FR) SYSTEME DE SERRAGE POUR LA FIXATION D’UN ELEMENT ANNULAIRE A UN ARBRE
Abstract: front page image
(EN)An annular component, such as the inner race (12) of an antifriction bearing (2) , fits over a shaft (4) with a slip fit. The component has an annular body (20) containing an annular channel (26) that opens inwardly and receives a clamping band (38, 48). The component is secured with set screws (32) that bear against the clamping band, and the band, in turn, bears against the surface (8) of the shaft. The band has detached ends (38, 48), which lie midway between the set screws and may be wedge-shaped and overlapped, so that when the set screws are turned down, the wedge-shaped ends ride over each other and aid in securing the component to the shaft. The ends of the band may be spaced apart as well.
