Abstract:
(EN) The present invention relates generally to an environmental control unit for use in air handling systems that provides highly effective filtration of noxious gases (such as ammonia). Such a filtration system utilizes novel metal-doped silica-based gels to trap and remove such undesirable gases from an enclosed environment. Such gels exhibit specific porosity requirements and density measurements. Furthermore, in order for proper metal doping to take effect, such gels must be treated while in a wet state. The combination of these particular properties and metal dopant permits highly effective noxious gas filtration such that uptake and breakthrough results are attained, particularly in comparison with prior silica gel filtration products. Methods of using and specific filter apparatuses are also encompassed within this invention.
(FR) L'invention concerne de manière générale un ensemble de conditionnement d'air à utiliser dans des systèmes de circulation d'air qui assure une filtration hautement efficace de gaz nocifs (de type ammoniac). Ce système de filtration utilise des gels à base de silice dopés par des métaux pour capturer et éliminer lesdits gaz indésirables d'un environnement fermé. Lesdits gels présentent des propriétés de porosité et des mesures de densité spécifiques. En outre, afin que le dopage métallique soit effectué correctement, lesdits gels doivent être traités à l'état mouillé. La combinaison de ces propriétés spécifiques et du dopage métallique permet d'assurer une filtration hautement efficace de gaz nocifs de façon à obtenir des résultats en matière d'absorption et de limite de saturation, en particulier par comparaison avec les produits de filtration faisant intervenir des gels de silice de l'art antérieur. L'invention concerne également des procédés d'utilisation associés et des appareils de filtration spécifiques.
