Abstract:
(EN) An air depolarized battery with an improved sealing member for sealing the air inlet port(s) of the battery before use is disclosed. The sealing member has areas of relatively high and low permeability, with an area of low permeability over at least a portion of an air inlet port. The rate of flow of air through the low permeability area and into the battery can be easily modified to maintain a desired battery open circuit voltage during battery storage to allow activation of the battery within a short time after removal of the sealing member, while minimizing losses in discharge capacity before use.
(FR) L’invention concerne un accumulateur à air pourvu d’un élément de fermeture renforcé pour fermer le ou les orifices d’entrée d’air de l’accumulateur avant utilisation. L’élément de fermeture est doté de zones d’étanchéité relativement élevée et faible, dont une zone d’étanchéité est faible sur au moins une partie d’un orifice d’entrée d’air. Le débit d’air circulant dans la zone d’étanchéité faible et à l’intérieur de l’accumulateur peut être facilement modifié afin de conserver un voltage en circuit ouvert souhaité de l’accumulateur lors du stockage de l’accumulateur, afin de permettre l’activation rapide de l’accumulateur après le retrait de l’élément de fermeture, tout en réduisant les pertes de la capacité de décharge avant l’utilisation.
