Abstract:
(EN) Methods of reducing hydroxyl ions in concrete pore solutions are provided. Such methods are useful in providing resistance to gels which form in concrete due to alkali-silica (ASR) reaction. The methods comprise, in one aspect, adding a salt, in aqueous or solid form, to the concrete, the salt having a cation higher in valence than the anion. In other aspects, the methods of the present invention comprise adding an acidic phosphate or a silicon-containing alkoxide to the concrete. All of the above methods are useful in reducing hydroxyl ions in concrete. Such methods can be used to resist ASR in fresh concrete, in concrete that is setting, or in hardened concrete. Methods are also provided for mitigating ASR while simultaneously healing cracks in concrete or bonding new concrete to existing concrete. The methods involve reacting an Si-containing alkoxide with a source of reactive calcium to produce calcium silicate hydrate.
(FR) L'invention concerne des procédés destinés à réduire des ions hydroxyle dans des solutions interstitielles de béton. Ces procédés sont utiles pour conférer une résistance à la formation de gels dans le béton du fait de la réaction alcali-silice (RAS). Dans un aspect, lesdits procédés consistent à ajouter un sel, sous forme aqueuse ou solide, dans le béton, ce sel comprenant un cation dont la valence est supérieure à celle de l'anion. Dans d'autres aspects, les procédés de la présente invention consistent à ajouter un phosphate acide ou un alcoxyde contenant du silicium dans le béton. Tous les procédés susmentionnés sont utiles pour réduire les ions hydroxyle dans le béton. Ces procédés peuvent être utilisés pour conférer une résistance à la réaction RAS dans le béton frais, dans le béton en cours de prise ou dans le béton durci. L'invention concerne également des procédés destinés à limiter la réaction RAS concomitamment à la réparation des fissures dans le béton ou à la liaison d'un nouveau béton au béton existant. Ces procédés consistent à faire réagir un alcoxyde contenant du Si avec une source de calcium réactif en vue de la production d'hydrate de silicate de calcium.
