Abstract:
(EN) A convertible retaining ring pliers (10) has a pivot (22) , first and second jaws (18,20) and first and second handles (14,16) rotatably secured about the pivot (22) . A pair of transfer pins (56,58) is slidably disposed for selective movement in the jaws (18,20) and the handles (14,16) for establishing alternative operating positions enabling the jaws (18,20) to move either inwardly or outwardly as the handles (14,16) move inwardly. A switching mechanism (12) is provided for simultaneous shifting of the transfer pins (56,58) in the jaws (18,20) and the handles (14,16) . The switching mechanism (12) includes reaction member housing assemblies (66,68) which are mounted on opposite ends of the pivot (22) and disposed on opposite external surfaces of the handles (14,16) . A switchplate structure (12) is rotatably mounted for side-to-side movement about the pivot (22) , and is slidably positioned between at least one reaction member housing assembly (66,68) and the external surface of one of the handles (14,16) . The switchplate structure (12) is engagable with an internal portion and an external portion of the at least one reaction member housing assembly (66,68), and an end of one of the transfer pins (56,58) .
(FR) L’invention concerne des pinces pour bagues de retenue convertibles (10) possédant un pivot (22), une première mâchoire et une seconde mâchoire (18,20) de même qu’une première poignée et une seconde poignée (14,16) fixées en rotation autour du pivot (22). Une paire de goupilles de transfert (56,58) est disposée de manière coulissante pour permettre un mouvement sélectif dans les mâchoires (18,20) et les poignées (14,16) afin d’établir des positions de commande alternatives permettant aux mâchoires (18,20) de se rapprocher ou de s’écarter lorsque les poignées (14,16) se rapprochent. Un mécanisme de commutation (12) est installé pour déplacer simultanément les goupilles de transfert (56,58) dans les mâchoires (18,20) et les poignées (14,16). Le mécanisme de commutation (12) renferme des ensembles de logement d’éléments de réaction (66,68) qui sont montés sur des extrémités opposées du pivot (22) et sur les surfaces externes opposées des poignées (14,16). Une structure de plaque de commutation (12) est montée de manière rotative pour assurer le mouvement d’un côté vers l’autre autour du pivot (22) et elle est disposée de manière coulissante entre au moins un ensemble de logement d’éléments de réaction (66,68) et la surface externe de l’une des poignées (14,16). La structure de plaque de commutation (12) peut s’engager dans une portion interne et une portion externe dudit au moins un ensemble de logement d’éléments de réaction (66,68) et une extrémité de l’une des goupilles de transfert (56,58).
