Abstract:
(EN) There are provided a method, an apparatus and a computer program product for reducing power consumption in an iterative decoder. The apparatus includes a memory device and an iteration termination device. The memory device is for storing a bit number difference indicating a number of bits that are different between a decoded codeword for a current iteration and a decoded codeword for a previous iteration, for each iteration of the iterative decoder prior to a maximum number of iterations. The iteration termination device is for comparing the bit number difference to a pre-specified bit number difference threshold value, incrementing a confidence value when the bit number difference exceeds the pre-specified bit number difference threshold value, and terminating further iterations of the iterative decoder when the confidence value exceeds a pre-specified confidence threshold value.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un procédé, un appareil et un programme informatique de réduction de la puissance d'un décodeur itératif. L'appareil comporte une mémoire et un dispositif de cessation. La mémoire stocke une différence de nombre de bits entre le mot de code décodé de l'itération actuelle et le mot de code décodé de l'itération précédente, et pour chaque itération du décodeur itératif avant un nombre maximal d'itérations. Le dispositif de cessation d'itérations compare la différence de nombre de bits à un seuil de différence de nombre de bits préspécifié; incrémente d'un degré de certitude lorsque la différence du nombre de bits dépasse le seuil de différence de nombre de bits préspécifié; et arrête les autres itérations du décodeur itératif lorsque le degré de certitude dépasse un seuil de degré de certitude préspécifié.
