Abstract:
(EN) A mobile device (202) is coupled to an ad-hoc, peer-to-peer local area network (204) via a public network (214). A secure data connection (216) is created between the mobile device (202) and an access point (212) of the local area network (204) so that the mobile device (202) operates in an address space of the local network (204). A proxy (220) for the mobile device (202) is operated on the local network (204). The proxy (220) maintains one or more state variables related to operation of the mobile device (202) on the local network (204). The proxy (220) simulates a reduced power mode (306, 310, 308) of the mobile device (202) on the local network (204) for purposes of shaping traffic over the secure data connection (216) and provides the state variables to entities (105, 112, 212, 221) of the local network (204) on behalf of the mobile device (202).
