Abstract:
(EN) The present invention discloses a device and method to establish and maintain bone stabilization and enhance post-operative healing in a surgical site, such as the cervical spine of a patient, with reduced risk of erosion or other injury to adjacent anatomic structures from extrusion of surgical fasteners, such as bone screws. The surgical stabilization system according to the present invention provides for the secure plating of structures such as adjacent vertebral bodies with allowance for selective postoperative motion of the surgical fasteners used to secure the plate. Such motion imparts benefit from increased translational response and remodeling in the course of bone healing, thus resulting in strengthened fusion.
(FR) L'invention concerne un dispositif et un procédé destinés à établir et à maintenir une stabilisation osseuse et à améliorer la guérison post opératoire d'un site chirurgical, notamment la colonne cervicale d'un patient, avec un risque réduit d'érosion ou d'autres blessures au niveau de des structures anatomiques proximales par extrusion de fixateurs chirurgicaux, tels que des vis à os. Le système de stabilisation chirurgical de l'invention fournit un doublage sur des structures telles que les corps vertébraux adjacents en permettant le mouvement post opératoire sélectif des fixateurs chirurgicaux utilisés afin de sécuriser la plaque. Ce mouvement applique un avantage à partir d'une réponse transactionnelle augmenté et remodèlent durant la guérison osseuse, ce qui permet d'obtenir une fusion renforcée.
