Disclosed is a soluble polyimide-based liquid crystal aligning agent which hardly causes damages on a film surface or separation of a film during rubbing. Specifically disclosed is a liquid crystal aligning agent which is applied over a substrate with electrode, then fired and subjected to rubbing for forming a liquid crystal alignment film. This liquid crystal aligning agent is characterized by containing a soluble polyimide obtained by imidating a polyamic acid which is obtained by reacting a diamine component with a tetracarboxylic acid dianhydride component. The liquid crystal aligning agent is further characterized in that the diamine component contains a diamine represented by the following general formula [1].

La présente invention concerne un agent d’alignement pour cristaux liquides à base de polyimide qui endommage à peine la surface d'une pellicule ou ne cause pas la séparation d’une pellicule pendant le dépolissage. Elle concerne spécifiquement un agent d’alignement pour cristaux liquides qui est appliqué sur un substrat avec des électrodes, puis cuit et soumis à un dépolissage pour former une pellicule d’alignement de cristaux liquides. L’agent d’alignement pour cristaux liquides selon l’invention est caractérisé en ce qu’il contient un polyimide soluble obtenu par imidation d’un acide polyamique lui-même obtenu en faisant réagir un composé de diamine avec un composant de dianhydride d’acide tétracarboxylique. Cet agent d’alignement pour cristaux liquide est en outre caractérisé en ce que le composant de diamine contient une diamine représentée par la formule générale [1] suivante.
