Abstract:
(EN) An electrophoretic dispersion with at least two particle species is proposed in which a minimal number (and concentration) of free compounds is present in solution. All chemicals needed to color and stabilize the pigment particles are preferably covalently attached to or within the particles. This enhances the robustness of the system and minimizes the conductivity of the dispersion so that the driving voltage for an electrophoretic display is reduced.
(FR) Cette invention concerne une dispersion électrophorétique comprenant au moins deux espèces de particules, dans laquelle un nombre minime (et une concentration) de composés libres est contenu en solution. Tous les produits chimiques nécessaires à la coloration et à la stabilisation des particules de pigments sont, de préférence, reliés par covalence aux particules ou à l'intérieur de ces particules. Ce mode de réalisation permet d'améliorer la robustesse du système et de réduire la conductivité de la dispersion et ainsi d'obtenir une tension de commande réduite pour un affichage électrophorétique.
